Ben and Cynthia Bringle have made a special collaborative vase for the Penland Auction to be held August 13-14.  They made this piece while teaching a workshop at Joe Jeffcoat's studio earlier this year.  This vase was made by Ben and Cynthia carved the surface.  It was wood fired with a Patina Green glaze on the surface.  Please consider supporting Penland this year through their fundraiser of may pieces of artwork contributed to this event.  For more information, go to the Penland School of Art website.

"SEAGROVE POTTERS FOR PEACE - TURNING STONEWARE INTO SCHOOLS" PDF Print E-mail

We hope you will join us in the 2010 fundraiser on August 14:  "SEAGROVE POTTERS FOR PEACE - TURNING STONEWARE INTO SCHOOLS", based on Mortenson's new book "Stones into Schools".  Ben will be make several tea cups that will be for sale at Ben Owen Pottery with a special signature on the bottom of SPP (Seagrove Potters for Peace) The proceeds will go to the Central Asia Institute (CAI) who have a mission to build schools in remote, impoverished areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.  Last year Ben Owen Pottery was invited to participate by Beth Gore of Cady Clay Works of Seagrove, NC who developed the idea for the fundraiser.  Beth named it "Seagrove Potters for Peace - 100 Cups of Tea" in reference to Greg Mortenson's best-selling book, "Three Cups of Tea".  Over a dozen potters in the Seagrove area participated.  We had a great response to folks purchasing cups.  Mr Mortenson's book has obviously touched many hearts.  For more info on the book go to Seagrove Potters for Peace website.
